This academic glossary is here to help me improve my English vocabulary by acquiring new words and expressions studied during my English class related to translation linked with the professional world.
This glossary includes twenty-six words and expressions that I chose in order to expand my English.
These words have been wisely chosen from the different texts studied in class, regarding their usefulness in everyday life or their potential utility in my professional life in a close future.
The different definitions and examples have been extracted from official dictionary resources such as the Merriam-Webster dictionary or the Collins and Cambridge online dictionaries.
Accreditation

The fact of being officially recognized, accepted, or approved of, or the act of officially recognizing, accepting, or approving of something.
Example: Accreditation systems provide oversight and guidance to health professions training programs and articulate a model of quality training to produce practitioners to meet societal health needs.

Noun
A group of animals that includes cows, buffalo, and bison, that are often kept for their milk or meat
Example: The farmer grazes cattle on this land in the summer months.

Expression
The foot-in-the-door technique is the idea that it is more effective to start by asking people for something small, and then when they give it to you, you are in a better position to ask for something bigger.
Example: The method of starting with a small request in order to open the way for other requests is well known: it’s the foot-in-the-door technique.
